The Rising Sun Run is an annual event for the Sierra Vista Sunrise Rotary Club. This event brings together individuals of all fitness levels to participate in a fun fitness race. We offer a one mile walk/run, (non-competitive), a 5K, 10K and a half marathon race.
We offer healthy food items and drink at the finish line, as well as local vendors such as Kona Ice, Kettle Korn,The Tiny Coffee House, LuLaRoe, Usborne books, and other small business ventures to pay a small fee and set up a booth at the event. We have a DJ announcing runners as they finish, with jazzed up music, chip timing, and a slew of volunteers (military, law enforcement, and community members) to assist our runners on the course. Cochise College nursing students are available to provide any limited medical assistance as needed.
This well-organized event raises funds for youth vocational scholarships and youth leadership activities, where local students attend workshops that develop skills in communication, ethics, problem solving, and conflict management.
We offer awards for top three finishers in each competitive race, and finisher medals for the half marathon runners. There will be swag bags filled with goodies and healthy snacks given to each paid entrant, and prize drawings at the finish line, just prior to the awards ceremony. All racers will be entered into prize drawings during the awards ceremony.
